- I am starting a blog to share tips and tricks, up coming events, and anything longarm-quilting or quilting related.
- Once a month on Tuesdays I will post “New tips-n-tricks” or fun things that happen during my travel.
Weekly tip; When following a quilting pattern, familiarize your self with the entire content of the pattern. My reason for saying this is, because I don’t normally use patterns but rather create as I go.
Well, last week I decided to purchase a Diamond Tides Quilt Pattern from WhitePlainsQuilts, which I really liked at first sight. I selected the fabrics which was the easy part. (Thanks to Megan Best from www.Bestquilter.com )
I started to read and look through the pattern, and thought easy peasy, I got this. The instructions are well written with great graphics. I managed to cut the fabric for the first half of the quilt no problem, then it got tricky because I just kept on repeating my process, (which wasn’t correct). I did ask myself how will this pattern finish? Had I looked at the pattern a little closer I would have had the answer. Let’s just say I had to improvise (changed) the pattern slightly to get a good finished result. Phew I saved the day.
I do really like the outcome, the blocks are laid out and sewing them together is on today’s agenda.
The name I chose for the quilt is “ Floridian Fall”, due to its transitions colors, and a landscape became visible after I laid out all the blocks.
Stay tuned for the finished picture, hopefully by the end of the day!
Happy quilting
